Known for a fearless use of color and an irreverent spin on traditional design, Summer Thornton brought a fresh perspective to Bernhardt’s iconic furnishings during her turn as our Spring 2022 Designer in Residence. With a modern maximalist viewpoint and a host of florals, she created a whimsical tea party in a palette of bright spring hues. A long table set with our enchanting Felicity chairs defined the playful mood, highlighting a bold mix of patterns using fabrics and wall coverings from Schumacher and chandeliers and sconces by Circa Lighting. Fans lined up to get a signed copy of Summer’s first book, Wonderland: Adventures in Decorating, published in March 2022, just in time for High Point’s Spring Market. We hosted a fantastic party in our High Point showroom with Veranda magazine to celebrate the occasion, complete with a signature cocktail inspired by Summer’s design.
